Studying the lives of four dancers as they strip their way to self-improvement

Sami, a Russian ex-truck driver doesn’t fully approve of the New York sex scene. “I don’t understand how men can sit in the club for hours and hours, spending 50 dollars every day... These are sick men.” Not that he’s complaining. Sami runs an agency providing Russian girls to the go-go clubs of New York, and business is booming. As one club owner says, “It’s an all-out fantasy that an American guy can sleep with someone we’ve been at war with for years.”

Since the fall of communism some 3,000 Russian women work Stateside as exotic dancers. Against a backdrop of the Russian communities of Coney Island and Brighton Beach, Go-Go Archipelago studies the lives of four dancers as they strip their way to self-improvement.
