Join Peep Shows main characters for more outrageous comedy
David Mitchell and Robert Webb return for a sixth series of the multi award winning Peep Show.
EPISODE 1: An increasing air of desperation surrounds Mark and Jeremy as they determine to enjoy their final days of freedom in credit crunch Croydon before Sophie’s (Olivia Colman) baby arrives. One of them is the father, so they are determined to avoid the issue for as long as possible. As Mark explains, “The baby is too big. You can’t look at it. It’s like the sun.”
Mark, newly promoted at work, decides to enjoy his additional power and wealth by splashing out on a boiler, a sofa (the ‘creamy elephant’), and also by finding Jeremy a job in the office. Things are also looking promising for Mark in his pursuit of Dobby, the company IT girl. However, a routine fire drill puts his plans into total disarray.
EPISODE 2: Mark makes a final play for Dobby (Isy Suttie), the object of his desires. While Jeremy meets a new love, Elena (Vera Filatova). Elena is a Russian émigré who loves music and poetry and, after long deliberation, has concluded “I often think that children are our future”. Both guys are determined to impress but one of them is an expectant father. When the pregnant Sophie spills the beans, both Mark and Jeremy’s worlds change forever. Worse still, the new boiler is playing up. The economic boom may be over, but for the guys the baby boom is just about to begin.
EPISODE 3: Jeremy realises that he’s in love with Elena, and decides to be generally less selfish to win her affection. He also thinks it might be a good idea to tell her he loves her. Mark isn’t so sure. With Dobby’s help, Mark goes after the ‘job of his dreams’ and faces the prospect of earning a living while doing something he enjoys. “I can do something interesting after years of horrific dullness. Like Sister Wendy”. However, an unselfish act inadvertently puts paid to both Mark and Jeremy’s plans.
EPISODE 4: Mark discovers that Elena, Jeremy’s girlfriend, has a guilty secret. Should he tell Jez when he’s clearly so happy? Elena thinks probably not, “Isn’t there a saying that whatever you don’t know makes you stronger?” In addition, Alan Johnson offers Mark the chance to go into business with him. Mark, while reassuring himself that this is his dream offer, begins to see Johnson in a new light and finds himself asking if, “Daddy’s hat has fallen off?” Finally, Big Suze (Sophie Winkleman) inadvertently brings Mark and Jeremy’s problems to a head.
EPISODE 5: As a last desperate hurrah before the baby arrives, Mark and Jeremy decide to throw a party. Mark sees it as his final opportunity to reignite his relationship with Dobby, while Jeremy imagines it’s a chance to make Elena, his part time lover, insanely jealous. However, both have very different ideas about what makes an ideal evening. Mark was hoping for an evening of “tipsy indiscretions”. As the evening unfurls they are both carried away by events beyond their control as Gerrard, Mark’s rival in love, Gail, Elena’s long term partner, and Sophie the mother of Mark’s baby, all make an appearance, and the ‘last hurrah’ party becomes an emotional roller coaster.
EPISODE 6: Time is running out for Jeremy as Elena and Gail’s marriage is imminent. However, he thinks there may be a way to get Gail off the scene and win Elena back… Meanwhile Mark, although conflicted about becoming a father, is worried that Jeff is becoming a potential rival Dad. He decides that he’s going to learn to drive so that he can take Sophie to the hospital when the baby arrives. Sophie is delighted but learning to drive doesn’t prove that easy
