SAS: Story Of An Elite

image

The definitive history of the Special Air Service

The films shows how Britain's most secretive and glamorous regiment was formed almost by accident by an unlikely group of social misfits who turned the conventional notion of army discipline on its head. There are many myths surrounding the SAS. Often they are portrayed as superfit thugs with a licence to kill; they are the unseen force behind every conflict in the last 50 years; they are masters of the most extreme terrain on earth. All of these myths are in some part true, but because of operational security, the men who took part have been gagged by the Ministry of Defence. For the first time the soldiers who were there describe the real stories behind the news including the men who fought the IRA and stormed the Iranian embassy in 1980.
