Some people collect stamps, others spot trains. Both are perfectly reasonable and relaxing pastimes. There are some, however, who like a bit of life-threatening spice added to their hobby – and the storm chasers certainly fall into that category.
Some people collect stamps, others spot trains. Both are perfectly reasonable and relaxing pastimes. There are some, however, who like a bit of life-threatening spice added to their hobby – and the storm chasers certainly fall into that category. Every year, hundreds of tornadoes tear their way across America, leaving a trail of destruction and death in their wake; and every year a group of people gathers with camcorders to watch. For some the hobby has turned into a job, reporting storms for local television stations, while others have become scientists in order to investigate these mysterious winds. Saving lives is a priority for these groups and, as a result, the number of fatalities from tornadoes has reduced dramatically.
