Distinguished beer scholar Michael Jackson tours the world in search of the tastiest brews. On his travels, he meets a Bavarian prince who uses his castle as a brewery and some Trappist Monks hard at work brewing, and sampling, a very strong ale.
A trip to the then Czechoslovakia includes visits to the sources of the world’s greatest lagers, Pils and Budweiser, and in Belgium, he encounters beers as good as any Burgundy. Jackson ends up back in Britain at The Great British Beer Festival where he tries to sample as many of the 240 ales on offer as possible. A fascinating series for anyone who enjoys a glass of beer. As Jackson says: “the beers featured in The Beer Hunter are as different as a Chablis is from a port and their potential uses just as varied. Why should wines have all the fun?"
