It is 1971. A hot summer’s evening in London. Five women gather together for a radical discussion group. They are the beautiful, idealistic Stephie, sexy feminist Layla, pioneering academic Alice, bimbo Daffy and nervous, toddler-trailing Zoe.
By the end of the evening the women have decided to try to change the world – a decision that will also change their lives forever. Big Women is an adaptation of the novel by renowned author and feminist Fay Weldon. It is an irreverent look at the rise of women from the passionate idealism of the ’70s to the careerist culture of the late ’90s, set in and around the activities of feminist publishing house, Medusa.
