Best Friend Rehab - FORMAT

image

Sometimes your friends have to be cruel to be kind!

In every episode of this emotionally charged,  intervention format a group of friends nominate one of their closest mates for ‘rehab’ in a very real effort to try and help them turn their lives around. At the top of the show we hear their fears and get sneak footage of how their friend behaves before there is a dramatic confrontation and reveal in the intervention cell. Once the truth is out and the tears dried, an expert psychologist is there to help with a programme of rehabilitation – a step by step guide to recovery and reconciliation with your friends supporting you every step of the way. It's not easy changing your life but it's a whole lot easier if your friends are helping!

Best Friend Rehab is a series in which a group of friends nominate one of their closest mates for ‘rehab’. For some time their friend’s behaviour has been worrying them. Perhaps they can’t move on from an ex-boyfriend or they’ve turned into a workaholic with no time for friends or life; they might binge drink to dangerous levels, or have become so obsessed by how much they weigh they’ve lost all perspective on life. Whatever the problem, the friends are at the end of their tether and have decided enough’s enough. Cue a surprise intervention where the friends hit the rehabber with a reality check. The rehabber has been lured to a neutral location thinking they’re here to take part in a show about friendship. But as they enter the intervention ‘cell’, they’re faced with some uncomfortable home truths. The series is founded on recent psychological research that proves something we all know intuitively: that our friends know us better than we know ourselves. A clinical psychologist is on hand for counselling and advice throughout the process and will oversee the rehabber’s recovery process. Ultimately this is a positive, uplifting and empowering series in which friends help fix a close mate’s problem behaviour and in so doing make the friendship group stronger than ever. But it’s also an emotional rollercoaster, packed with jeopardy, mischief and humour, because the theory goes if you can get someone to laugh at themselves you can often bypass months of therapy.
