How to Divorce... FORMAT

image

A formatted observational documentary series in which three couples at different stages of divorce undergo an intensive course in an attempt to minimize the damage that their divorces could do to their children.

Three couples facing a permanent split embark on an emotional journey with the help of an expert divorce coach. It is a last-ditch effort to minimise the emotional impact on their young children, who are already struggling to cope with their parents' decision to separate. Meeting with an expert is a chance for the parents to learn how to co-parent effectively before they inflict further harm upon their kids. The expert will teach the couples what 'putting children first' really means. They must learn to put aside their anger and bitterness and concentrate solely on the needs of their children. For the kids, the intervention of a divorce coach represents the first opportunity to articulate their true feelings on their families' break up as they realise that they are not alone. Parenting classes and individual sessions prove an emotionally gruelling process for everyone; but even more of a test when, back at home, each family tries to put the expert's rules into practice.
