A hilarious and scathing phone hacking satireā¦if it had taken place in the 1970s disco era
The anarchic comedy collective that created such classics as
Five Go Mad in Dorset and The Strike, returns with a brilliant one-off satire,
lampooning the headline-grabbing, British phone hacking scandal. No one is safe
from the irreverent wit of legendary British comedy filmmaker Peter Richardson
in this surreal and hilarious script. The outlandish comic fantasy tells the
story of Rebekah, an innocent and beguiling Northern girl, who accidentally becomes
chief executive of News International and gets caught up in a 1970s
Watergate-style scandal. Attracting rave reviews and excellent ratings, the
film brings together a roll call of universally treasured British comedy greats,
alongside exciting new comic talent. Maxine Peake plays Rebekah, alongside
Nigel Planer as Rupert Murdoch and Russell Tovey as Andy Coulson. Johnny Vegas,
Alexei Sayle, Harry Enfield, James Buckley and John Sessions also star in the
film alongside Eleanor Matsuura and Stephen Mangan, who reprises his role as
Tony Blair. Creator Peter Richardson also makes a special appearance.
