The ancestral home of singers Kate Ashton and her brother Hamish is partly ruined and in desperate need of repair.
Hamish has emotionally blackmailed his sister into marrying Oliver Hickox , a rich American tenor whose millions will restore the house to its former glory. To celebrate the alliance, he arranges a wedding night performance of Donizetti’s opera, Lucia di Lammermoor, with Kate in the title role. However, during the show’s tense rehearsals, it quickly becomes clear that there is only a thin line between Kate’s situation and the opera’s story – of Lucia, a young girl who murders the husband she has been forced to marry. Kate, like Lucia, has fallen desperately in love with someone else; in this case her opera co-star Sam. Events shift between reality and fantasy as the differences between the group and their on-stage characters become dangerously obscured. Produced by Lexington Films
