EPISODE 1: A Crime at the Post Office
Someone steals a cash machine from the post office during the night. Topinka is convinced that the crime was committed by a professional who knew what he was doing. The alarm didn’t go off, the cameras didn't see anything, and the cash machine's GPS was destroyed. All the clues lead to dead ends and the main suspects have an alibi while Topinka’s zealous efforts only annoy the chief police officer Hrubý from the city criminal police in Ostrava. To Hrubý’s surprise, Topinka eventually unravels the mystery – the crime wasn't committed by the suspects, but by their wives, who wanted to escape from their useless husbands. During the investigation, Topinka also falls in love with the new postie, Lucie, who seems to feel the same way.

But Marie is convinced that someone set the guest house on fire. Topinka has to prove his mother's theory; otherwise she will be staying at his house forever. This seriously complicates his attempts at a relationship with Lucie the postie. The mother-and-son investigation drives the chief police officer Hrubý crazy , who considers the case to be closed. A brutally beaten sheep is found on the Czech-Slovak border. Topinka and his Slovak counterpart Ostrý must overcome their mutual animosity and work together to catch the mass sheep murderer who continues to make new victims. The clock is found in the museum of curiosities owned by Kytka, the clockmaker. He, however, argues that Železník, the beekeeper who lives on the other side of the border, gave it to him to repay his debt. This is the area under the supervision of Topinka’s counterpart Ostrý. Moreover, Železník has an alibi for the time of the crime: he was with doctor Elinger. What follows is a series of dramatic misunderstandings and fast police chases amidst the mountains. At the same time, his mother Marie quarrels with the chief police officer Hrubý over a house that both want to buy.
