In each episode a stand-up comedian is introduced to a scientist undertaking research.

Varied and unusual research topics are chosen to give the series scope. The original series
looked at the Black Death, parasitic brain infections and the dwindling honeybee population.

This ‘odd couple’ then spend the next five days together so the comedian can learn everything
they can about this new subject. Ideally this will include a mix of time in the lab, in the field or
even on an exciting overseas trip.

Cameras follow as their relationship develops and as the comedian asks questions and tries to
get to grips with the science – maybe they’ll even try an experiment of their own.

Towards the end of the time they start writing their routine – and will call on a fellow comedian
to act as a guinea pig for the new material, as well as obtain tips.

The comedian then performs their new show to a packed crowd, including the scientist and their
family. What will they think?
