Synopsis
Making A Killing traces the 50-year struggle of one family to recover the art collection stolen from them by the Nazis

When Freidrich and Louise Gutmann refused to sign over their valuable art collection to the Nazis, they were murdered and their collection was seized. More than half a century later, descendants still pursue the family’s collection across Europe and America. This documentary highlights the continuing collusion of the international art world in denying the rightful owners access to the Nazi’s looted art. The culmination of the film focuses on the Goodman’s court battle in Chicago to retrieve their seized Degas painting ‘Landscape with Smokestacks.’
