Synopsis
An explosive story about love, family and identity

Second Generation is an explosive story about love, family and identity - a vivid romance set in a vibrant world, travelling from Brick Lane to Bollywood, through the Asian underground music scene, crazy club nights, curry factories and East End homes of London’s second generation.

For underground music label boss Sam Khan, encountering his childhood sweetheart Heere Gupta after years apart is like an electric shock to the brain. Heere is a runaway from her traditional family, living a wild life with a white music journalist, Jack, and trying to pretend her heritage doesn’t matter. But the past has just caught up with her. When Heere meets Sam, the passion is still there – and with it comes trouble.

Sam and Heere’s fathers were first generation immigrants who built a curry business together. Their siblings are fighting for control of the business – and the web of deceit is about to be exposed. Heere is engaged to Jack. She’s estranged from her Dad. She’s about to discover what really happened to her mother. In flight from the past, confused about the future - the last thing Heere needs right now is Sam.

Sam’s label is on the verge of mainstream success and a deal with Sony. Will he sell out? Will he fall for sexy, sassy Amba, or fight for Heere? Can he stand up to his Dad, who loathes the wilful Gupta girls? Caught by conflicting values, for the first time in his life Sam has to ask himself what matters most. Sam and Heere need to work out what they want – and where they belong.
