Great San Francisco Earthquake, The
Synopsis
This feature-length docu-drama marks the 100 year anniversary of the devastating San Francisco Earthquake on 18 April 1906. Using a combination of CGI technology, live action and incredible first hand testimony from survivors, the programme is a spectacular and highly emotional account of America’s worst ever natural urban catastrophe, which saw over 3000 people lose their lives and a city virtually destroyed. The film also follows a team of scientific experts as they drill through the San Andreas Fault to gain a better understanding of its secrets including the real and imminent threat of another quake – where predicted damage will be far greater than the 1906 disaster.
