Synopsis
The Sinking Of The Mary Rose investigates the sinking of the ship as if it were a contemporary maritime accident

The Mary Rose was one of the most important ships in maritime history. She was one of the world’s first battleships, and the pride of King Henry VIII. Commissioning her was virtually his first act as an 18-year-old king. But after 34 years of valiant service the “flower of all ships ever built” suddenly turned over on a calm summer’s day, killing nearly everyone on board, while the king looked on. It was the Titanic of its day. Even though much of the ship was recovered in 1982, it is still a mystery why she sank. The Sinking Of The Mary Rose investigates the sinking of the ship as if it were a contemporary maritime accident, adopting the rigour of a proper investigation and using top maritime accident investigators. Archive, stylised reconstruction and virtual reality graphics bring this fascinating detective story alive, while a large scale model of The Mary Rose recreates the sinking of the ship.
