Synopsis
A hilarious, insightful glimpse into that most private of bastions – the bathroom

From polished porcelain water closets to grubby, grimy, well-loved loos, a half-hour tour of English bathrooms and their naked inhabitants reveals much more than was bargained for. Hanging his observations on hooks from A-Z (Q is for quiet place, V is for violin practice, W is for washing the dog) it comes to light that the bathroom’s primary function is more ‘activity’ than ‘ablution’. Talk of private domains with occupants turns to emotional spheres as people reveal the passion and emotion their toilets inspire. Far from a foray into functional facilities, Greenaway’s film paints a cultural map and personal history between man and his amenity.
