Synopsis
Viking Longships takes two teams of rival rowers from Oxford and Cambridge Universities back in time to attempt one of the great Viking crossings from Denmark to England.

Viking Longships takes two teams of rival rowers from Oxford and Cambridge Universities back in time to attempt one of the great Viking crossings from Denmark to England. The teams must race more than 450 miles by oar and sail, using replica Viking longboats, in the ultimate boat race across the most testing of routes, the North Sea. At the start the teams must put aside the centuries of fierce rivalry between the two ancient universities and live together in a replica Viking village in Denmark. While they train and get to grips with the longboats, they must eat, drink, sleep and fight like Vikings as they gradually come to understand how the Vikings lived and made their prodigious journeys across the seas.
