WEDDING BELLES follows four life-long female friends as they prepare for Leith's wedding of the year. Set in present-day Leith, Edinburgh, the film centres on the lives of four late twenty-something women. Shauna Macdonald (Spooks, The Descent) plays Rhona, an ex-fashion model, mourning the death of her fiancé and falling into drug dependency. Shirley Henderson (A Cock and Bull Story, Dirty Filthy Love) is Kelly, a woman battling with her demons and managing to upset all those around her. Kathleen McDermott (Movern Callar) plays Shaz who works in an old people's home - selling Viagra to the residents, and Michelle Gomez (Green Wing, The Book Group) plays Amanda, the bride-to-be and matriarch of the gang.
A successful business woman set to marry Joshua, an airline pilot with a very dark secret. WEDDING BELLES follows the gang over a five day period as Amanda prepares for her dream wedding. The four childhood friends have raved, loved and caroused hard and are now ready to tackle adulthood head on. But as the nuptials approach, their lives are thrown into turmoil by a series of hilarious, shocking and heartbreaking revelations.
