Hannah was snatched just 300 yards from her home in Southampton by Maninder Pal Kohli. After bundling her into his van he raped, strangled then dumped her body in a lay-by. Hannah had dialled 999 and audio forensics were able to tell she had been held in a large diesel van by an Asian man. After matching the movements of the phone to CCTV footage, they had the name Maninder Pal Kohli – forensics found traces of Hannah’s blood in his van. CCTV later confirmed he caught a flight to India. An emotional television appeal by Hannah’s father in India resulted in Kohli being caught trying to escape into Nepal. In an extraordinary confession - Kohli admitted his guilt live on an Indian television news channel. Later he retracted that confession and fought for four years to stop himself being extradited back to the UK. Despite overwhelming evidence Kohli still denied his guilt- but a jury decided he was a liar. He was sentenced to life imprisonment for the rape and murder of Hannah Foster. Also available: Real Crime: A Very Special Constable 1 x 60 and Real Crime: Serial Killer on Camera 1 x 60’
