Synopsis
Based on the UK’s #1 drama - buenos dias, Doctor Mateo

Doctor Mateo, played by Spanish star Gonzalo de Castro, is a grumpy, socially inept, but brilliantly distinguished New York surgeon who, having developed a sudden aversion to the sight of blood, moves to the sleepy seaside village of Martin del Sella in Spain where he used to spend his childhood to take up a position as the local doctor.

Despite his excellent medical skills, he has no social abilities and struggles to get along with the locals in the village. Little by little, he will learn to understand and care for them, particularly for Adriana (Natalia Verbeke), the village school teacher, who he falls in love with.

Throughout the series we come to know the owner of the local bar and all the villagers who meet there to catch up on gossip and day-to-day events which form the catalyst for the show’s hilarious plot lines. Doctor Mateo launched on Antena 3 in 2009, winning numerous awards, and averages three million viewers in its Sunday evening primetime slot, attracting a wide audience of men and women of all ages.
