Synopsis
Paul Abbott’s outrageous and funny comedy-drama returns celebrating its 100th episode

The eighth season kicks off with a Chatsworth Estate party, and it’s not just any party - it’s Frank’s stag night. He’s getting married to the love of his life, his romantic narcoleptic librarian third bride-to-be, Libby. Then, as the clock strikes midnight, Frank disappears. The mystery of Frank’s whereabouts is a veritable magical mystery tour into the previously unexplored outer-limits of Frank’s drink and drug-addled mind. With Frank missing, a dark cloud spoils the party spirit when a previous Mrs Gallagher returns. Yes Monica is back and set on laying claim to her family.

‘...the return of C4 drama Shameless entertainment more than a million more viewers than Episodes and managed to attract 3.08m (16.01%) across the 10pm hour, ranking as the most viewed terrestrial from 10.45pm to 11pm – ahead of both BBC1 and ITV1.’ The Independent 11.01.11
‘The eighth series which began brilliantly last night, is to run for 22 episodes (the first five on consecutive evenings) which is much more them than us, and an indication of Channel 4’s enduring faith in Paul Abbott’s
extraordinary gallery of grotesques.’ The Guardian 10.01.11
‘Paul Abbott’s ribald comedy-drama about the Gallagher family has been a breeding ground for strong British acting – James McAvoy, Maxine Peake and Anne-Marie Duff have all inhabited its Chatsworth estate – and the series continues to bring the novelty. The first five episodes of this
eighth series are stripped across the five consecutive nights, so if you’ve dropped out of the habit of watching, and feel Frank’s errant dynasty has become too complex to follow, here’s an opportunity to catch up.
And what better way to start than with the wedding of the year: Frank’s. But. er, where is he, exactly?’
