Ben Hur is set 2,000 years ago, amidst the struggle between the Roman Empire and its occupied territory Judea. This landmark mini-series follows the dramatic story of two young boys - Judah Ben Hur (Joseph Morgan, Master and Commander) and Messala (Stephen Campbell Moore, Wallis and Edward). Years later, they are reunited, as Messala returns to Jerusalem as Commanding Officer of the Roman Garrison, a way of life driven by the glory of Rome and its imperial power. After a freak accident, however, Ben Hur finds himself condemned to slavery on a Roman galley - only managing to stay alive with thoughts of revenge. Then, through another twist of fate, Ben Hur is able to return to Judea - this time as a wealthy man - for one purpose: to kill Messala and avenge his family honour. This bitter struggle for power, love, honour and revenge culminates in a tense and exhilirating chariot race...to the death. Will the friends be able to forget the hatred and vengeance in their hearts and find peace, before it's too late?
