When hidden behind an anonymous online name, hateful
people are able to say whatever they want, thinking that it is without any risk
or consequence. But they are wrong. Internet Troll Hunters tracks down the
people that post threats, hateful comments and harass their victims online.
Our determined host, from
inside the legal system, hears the victims’ stories, learning how the abuse has
destroyed their lives. Working online, these Trolls think they can attack
people from the safety of their homes but this new format brings together the
best internet experts to start hunting down the culprits. The host and
specialists hope to catch these trolls, making them understand the consequences
of their actions for the victims and their future. The trolls are banned from
social sites, to make sure they never hurt anyone every again
Internet Troll Hunters premiered on Thursday April 3rd 2014 at 9pm on TV3 Sweden. It attracted a total of 449,000 viewers. It achieved a share of 13% in the target group of 15-49 and increased its average weekly share for the slot by 50%.
The Dutch version of Internet Troll Hunters first aired on RTL5 ON Monday 11th May 2015 with a run of 6 weekly episodes. The series average 671,000 viewers beating the channel average by 224% and the slot average by 105%.
