Synopsis
The man behind the greatest Tudor paintings

Holbein was Henry VIII’s court painter. To an unusual, and perhaps unique degree, his paintings of the king and his court, including Thomas More, Jane Seymour and Anne of Cleves, have shaped our image of the era.

Waldemar Januszczak focuses on the portraits that are of particular relevance to the story of Wolf Hall and in the process, begins to enlighten the viewer not only on the talent of Holbein but also on the make-up and workings of the court.
