This wonderful new documentary provides a fascinating insight into what it takes to design and construct awe-inspiring and out-of-the-ordinary buildings by looking at some of the iconic work created by Grimshaw Architects. The company was founded in 1980 by its chairman Sir Nicholas Grimshaw, who went on to win numerous awards, including ‘Building of the Year’ for his work on London’s Waterloo Station in 1994. Now, with an impressive global profile, this new show takes a look at some of the company’s most famous buildings around the world, including the Eden Project and Bath Spa in England, the Fulton Center in New York and the stupendous Southern Cross Railway Station in Melbourne, Australia. We hear first hand from the people who have brought these buildings to life and detail the inspiration, design and occasional trials and tribulations of delivering such extraordinary structures. This beautiful film is directed by Sam Hobkinson, a two-time recipient of the prestigious Grierson British Documentary Award and known for creating impactful and visually arresting films.
