It’s a game where, although the outcome is important, the humour and chat we generate along the way provide the majority of the fun. From Round One, where contestants might be betting on the outcome of a dog, blind person, model and businessman begging against each other in a busy street, to Round Five where the presenter might be stuck on a board and hoisted into the studio to see how high he can go before the falls to the ground, the show is crammed with stupid fun. Although in the UK the show was produced with celebrity contestants and played for ‘panel show’ style humour Stupid Punts could easily adapt to a mainstream format where ordinary members of the public play for big cash prizes. As long as the Punts are stupid the show will work.
