Synopsis
Equinox tries to unscramble the science of cryptography – or code-breaking – which lies at the centre of a battle between governments, scientists and civil libertarians. In 1995 it was discovered that the British government was funding research into a facility capable of deciphering any electronic communication. The “key escrow system” would act as an electronic skeleton key, descrambling all mobile telephones, faxes and email. Cybersecrecy meets the whizzkids battling world governments in a game of technological cat and mouse. Freedom fighting cryptographers like Cypherella describe their search for the unbreakable code in an attempt to save us from the all-seeing eye of authority.
