Season 1 of The Inbetweeners aired on E4 from 29th May 2008 at 10pm. The viewing figures rose considerably as the season progressed and the season finale peaked with 422,000 viewers.
Season 2 aired in April 2009 at 10pm and saw an incredible increase in audience ratings compared to Season 1, with an average of 1.15 million viewers over the six episodes.
Having established a stong following, Season 3 of The Inbetweeners smashed the record for the series and for the E4 channel. Across the series, which started on 13 September, it secured an average overnight audience of 2.45m (11.91%). Prior to its launch, the slot average for the year to date had been 347,500 (1.7%).
It managed to beat all other multichannel competition in the slot and also surpassed audience figures for BBC2, Channel 4 and Channel 5, which all hovered around the million mark at the time.
